Marchena makes Villarreal switch
Villarreal have signed FIFA World Cup™-winning centre-back Carlos Marchena from Valencia.
The 31-year-old, who can also operate as a holding midfielder, passed a medical today and will be presented at El Madrigal tomorrow before joining his new team-mates in training the following day.
He has signed a three-year deal with the club to join Joan Capdevila, his colleague in Spain's victorious squad in South Africa this summer, in the Yellow Submarine's defence.
Marchena, who represented Sevilla prior to his 10 years at the Mestalla, won two league titles, a UEFA Cup, a Copa del Rey and a Super Cup with Valencia in addition to his UEFA EURO 2008 and 2010 FIFA World Cup successes.
