Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro has set his sights on winning the Bundesliga next season.

The former Bayern Munich and Chelsea player believes Werder can challenge for silverware after a late recovery last term saw them scramble up the table to claim the third qualifying berth for the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking to the Weser Kurier from his club's training camp in Donaueschingen, Pizarro said: "We want to win the Bundesliga and we are capable of doing so.

We want to win the Bundesliga and we are capable of doing so. We have the quality to become champions.

"We have the quality to become champions, even if there are very good clubs like Bayern [Munich], Schalke and [Bayer] Leverkusen."

Pizarro was Bremen's top marksman last season with 16 goals, and the campaign before with 17 in just 26 appearances, but he would be happy scoring fewer goals if the team was more successful.

"It doesn't matter how many goals I score myself," said the Peruvian. "All that matters is winning the league with Werder Bremen."
