Brazilian striker Vicente scored twice but it was not enough to earn three points for Shanghai Shenhua as the Chinese Super League leaders were held to a 3-3 draw by Henan Jianye at Hongkou Stadium.

The home side got off to the best possible start when Jiang Kun's weighted pass sent Vicente clear and he beat goalkeeper Zeng Cheng after just five minutes. Jiang set up the second goal for Vicente 14 minutes later, clipping an inviting corner the Brazilian headed home.

Zhang Lu reduced the deficit three minutes after the break with a superb long-range effort and on the hour mark, Henan were level when Polish forward Emmanuel Olisadebe volleyed past keeper Wang Dalei when he met Xu Yang's cross from the left. Shanghai restored their lead just three minutes later when Colombian striker Duvier Riascos coolly slotted home.

However, the hosts' hopes of gaining maximum points were dashed by Xu in the 68th minute when he applied the finish following a one-two with Leandro. "I believe my side deserve to be top of the league although we played out a draw with our opponents today," said Shanghai boss Miroslav Blazevic.

"I was to blame for the draw since I didn't make the proper adjustments to nullify the opposition attack. My players should still feel proud for their excellent play today."

Henan coach Tang Yaodong praised his side's resilience. "I do appreciate my players' never-say-die spirit. Their efforts paid off even though we had been two goals down," he added.

Elsewhere, defending champions Beijing Guoan lost 3-0 at Dalian Shide while Shandong Luneng moved within a point of Shanghai as Lu Zheng's 55th-minute goal was enough to see off Nanchang Bayi.

Liaoning Zhongyu beat Jiangsu Shuntian 2-1, Tianjin Teda lost 2-1 at home to Changchun Yatai, Qingdao Zhongneng triumphed 2-0 over Changsha Ginde and Shenzhen Kingway saw off Chongqing Lifan by the same scoreline.
