Zenit St Petersburg extended their unbeaten start to the Premier Liga to 14 games with a 2-1 home win over Sibir Novosibirsk. Goals from Nicolas Lombaerts and Roman Shirokov gave the league leaders the three points as they maintained their seven-point advantage at the top of the table.

Second-placed Rubin Kazan were also winners as Cristian Noboa's fourth-minute goal gave them a 1-0 victory at Spartak Moscow. The home side's day was made worse when they had Fedor Kudryashov sent off in the final minute.

The day's other game saw Dinamo Moscow beat fifth-placed Rostov 3-2. Roman Adamov had given Rostov the lead but goals from Denis Kolodin and former Liverpool forward Andriy Voronin put Dinamo ahead. Igor Lebedenko levelled matters but Vladimir Granat got the winner for the home side 10 minutes into the second half.
