Hamburg today completed the signing of highly-rated fullback Dennis Diekmeier from Nurnberg.
Diekmeier joins the northern club on a four-year deal for a reported fee of €2.5million and is being lined up as the replacement for Jerome Boateng, who moved to Manchester City at the end of last season.
"We are very happy that we have managed to sign Dennis Diekmeier," Hamburg boss Armin Veh told the club's official website.
"He's one of the biggest German talents around and he's extremely fast - there are few players around with his kind of pace. He is also capable of sending in some dangerous crosses and I'm confident he'll be important for the team."
