Serie A outfit Genoa have made an offer to sign striker Luca Toni, according to club president Enrico Preziosi. Toni, who is under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2011, played the last six months on loan at Roma.
"We have a keen interest in Toni," said Preziosi to Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is a player that has the characteristics of our forwards and we really like him.
"We have made an offer but the problem is that we need to look at the numbers. It´s a problem of salaries that are stratospheric. There are things that we cannot afford. We will see what he decides. But I insist that we cannot go crazy, we will go up to a certain amount."
The 33-year-old Toni, a FIFA World Cup™ winner with Italy in 2006, scored five goals in 15 league appearances with Roma.
