Cha Bum-Keun has announced he will resign as coach of Suwon Bluewings next month after a terrible run of results that has left the team bottom of the K-League.
A return of just one point from eight games has seen Suwon slip down the standings. Even though the two-time continental champions are in the last eight of the AFC Champions League, Cha will step down in June.
Cha, who won the UEFA Cup as a player with Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen, joined Suwon in 2004 and led them to the league title that season and again in 2008. A disappointing 2009 season saw Suwon finish 10th and the slump has continued this term.
"I will continue as Suwon coach until June 6," Cha said on Sportal Korea. "I will then try to take a rest." The K-League is currently on a break until after the World Cup.
