Argentinos Juniors have ended a 25 year wait for championship glory by clinching the Argentinian Clausura championship on the final day with a 2-1 win over nine-man Huracan to maintain a one-point margin over Estudiantes who conceded top spot in the penultimate round.

Juan Mercier scored after 23 minutes and Facundo Coria added a second after 77 minutes after Huracan had been reduced to 10 men by the dismissal of Paolo Goltz.

Huracan were reduced to nine men when Pablo Jerez was sent off after 83 minutes before Alan Sanchez netted what proved merely a consolation two minutes from time.

Mauro Boselli netted a hat-trick as second-placed Estudiantes claimed a 4-1 win at Colon Santa Fe. Boselli struck after 11, 21 and 49 minutes and Enzo Perez added a fourth after 53 minutes before Facundo Curuchet netted for the hosts after 75 minutes.

Elsewhere, Ignacio Piatti scored an 87th-minute winner as fourth-placed Independiente beat Lanus 1-0, while Rosario Central drew 0-0 with Velez Sarsfield.
