Al Rayyan continued their surprises in this year's Qatar Emir Cup when they claimed a 2-1 victory against Al Sadd in the semi-finals. Al Rayyan, who previously knocked out Qatar league champions Al Gharafa in the quarter-finals, opened the scoring three minutes before the break through Omani striker Imad Ali who followed up from close range.

Al Rayyan doubled their advantage nine minutes into the second half through Younis Ali before substitute striker Hassan Al Haydos pulled a goal back for Al Sadd with 19 minutes remaining. Al Rayyan qualified for the final on May 15 where they will meet the winners of the other semi-finals which will be between Qatar SC and Umm Salal tomorrow.
