Umm Salal advanced to the quarter-finals of the Qatar Emir Cup following a 3-2 win against Al Shamal on Sunday.

Umm Salal, who will meet Al Arabi in the last eight, took the lead through Mohamad Al Sayed after 13 minutes.

Bakhit Al Marri levelled after 31 minutes and Al Shamal, who were relegated to the second division this year, were ahead soon after thanks to Bahrain midfielder Mahmoud Abdulrahman.

Umm Salal were level on the hour through Chuca Okeke before Brazilian striker Magno Alves scored the winner with 13 minutes remaining.

Elsewhere, Al Rayyan progressed with a 1-0 win against Al Siliya. Afonso Alves scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot after 12 minutes to set up a last-eight meeting with Qatar league defending champions Al Gharafa.

The third round will be continued on Monday when Al Wakra meet Al Ahli and Al Khraitiat take on Al Khor.
