Sporting Lisbon have confirmed Paulo Sergio will take over as coach at the end of the season.
The 42-year-old, who is currently in charge of Guimaraes, has agreed a two-year deal with an option of a third.
Sergio will succeed Carlos Carvalhal, who took over midway through the season following the resignation of Paulo Bento.
A club statement read: "Carlos Carvalhal will remain in charge of the team until the end of the season.
"Hired during a difficult time, Carlos Carvalhal has undergone his work with great professionalism, never hiding the pride he feels for representing the club.
"Paulo Sergio will be Sporting's coach from next season. The deal has been reached with the consent of Guimaraes."
