Runaway Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat away at St Johnstone on Tuesday - but they still remain 10 points clear of bitter rivals Celtic with a game in hand.
St Johnstone - who began the match 35 points behind Rangers - had the match sewn up by half-time having taken a 3-1 lead. Goals by Cillian Shepherd - on loan from Celtic - and Chris Millar inside 12 minutes had the visitors reeling.
Sasa Papac reduced the deficit in the 16th minute but the fight went out of Rangers when Liam Craig's header restored the two goal advantage nine minutes before the break.
Rangers manager Walter Smith sent on a new look forward partnership for the second-half in the shape of Maurice Edu and Northern Irish international Kyle Lafferty.
However, they made little difference and the hosts deservedly wrapped up the match 11 minutes from time as Murray Davidson shot home from close range.
