Veteran goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti has added to Juventus' injury woes after it was confirmed that he broke his hand yesterday by punching a table.
Chimenti lashed out in frustration after Antonio Cassano's 77th-minute goal handed Sampdoria a 1-0 victory over I Bianconeri and tests today have revealed the 39-year-old has broken the fifth metacarpal in his right hand. Fortunately Alex Manninger is back to full fitness and should be able to take his place between the sticks against Napoli while first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is also back in training and could make a surprise return on Thursday.
"I was very upset, I was first back into the dressing room and I vented my anger with a punch on the table," said Chimenti. "Unfortunately I broke my hand. For Thursday both of them (Buffon and Manninger) should be back. I'm very upset not to be there but I am happy for them and for the squad for their return."
Chimenti is Juve's third-choice goalkeeper but has only played three games since his return to Turin in the summer of 2008, all of them this month, conceding eight goals.
