Independiente consolidated their position at the top of the Argentinian Clausura standings with a 2-0 win over Rosario Central on Sunday.
The league leaders left it late to claim all the points, with Lucas Mareque and Leonel Nunez's goals coming inside the final 13 minutes. The win keeps Independiente two points clear of Godoy Cruz, who defeated reigning champions Banfield 2-0. Leonardo Sigali opened the scoring after 17 minutes before David Ramirez made sure of the victory with the second 17 minutes from time.
Arsenal Sarandi were 2-0 winners over Gimnasia La Plata thanks to strikes in either half from Luciano Leguizamon and Mauro Obol. Gimnasia finished the game with 10 men after Sebastian Romero picked up a second yellow card after 58 minutes.
Heavy rain forced the game between Boca Juniors and River Plate at the Bombonera to be abandoned with the match goalless after 10 minutes. Local officials confirmed the remaining 80 minutes of the match would be played on Thursday.
