Monterrey missed the chance to go top of the Torneo Bicentenario as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Puebla on Sunday.
After Guadalajara only took a point from their goalless draw with Unam Pumas on Saturday, the door was open for Monterrey to go top on goal difference with a win. They were on course when Orlando Rincon's own goal put them in front two minutes into the second half, but Herculez Gomez levelled for Puebla in the 65th minute.
Cruz Azul came from behind to beat Toluca 3-2 away from home. Cruz Azul had led through a 16th minute strike from Emanuel Villa, but they then fell behind to two goals in the space of 10 minutes from Hector Mancilla and Antonio Naelson. However, Biancucchi Maxi fired them level on the hour mark before Villa's second won it nine minutes from time.
