Al Ahli coach Sergio Farias has urged his side to cut out the mistakes they made in their last AFC Champions League match when they tackle Al Gharafa today.

Farias, who led Pohang Steelers to the Asian title last year, watched on as his new charges slumped to defeat in their opening Group A game against Esteghlal and the Brazilian is keen to see them bounce back against the Qatari outfit. "I hope we don't make the same mistakes," he said.

"We missed a lot of scoring opportunities. I took over this side only two months ago and we are still in the process of building a team. This is a tough tournament. There are no easy matches in this event. We did not have a good start but we expect a favourable result in Doha."

Al Gharafa coach Caio Junior has told his side not to read too much into Al Ahli's opening-day result. "Al Ahli performed well in the first match but they were a little unlucky not to have won," he said. "Their players have speed and good football skills. But we are ready for this match."

In the other game in the group, Esteghlal take on Al Jazira at the Azadi Stadium and coach Samad Marfavi has warned his players not to get complacent following the victory over Al Ahli. "I've drilled this fact into my players' minds that they should play with their full strength and refrain from being arrogant," he said. "They know this well and I am hopeful they'll play with a lot of motivation."

Al Jazira manager Abel Braga admitted his side have already put behind them their opening defeat to Al Gharafa. "It's true that we lost our first match but we are not frustrated by this loss," said the Brazilian. "We still have opportunities to qualify for the next round, and in order to do that, we'll do our best."
