Shakhtar Donetsk bounced back from their midweek Europa League exit to post a narrow win over Vorskla, which keeps them on the coat-tails of league leaders Dynamo Kiev.
Brazilian midfielder Jadson scored the only goal on the stroke of half-time as Shakhtar moved to within two points of the leaders, having now played one game more.
Dnipro held
Fifth-placed Dnipro's push for European football next season suffered a setback as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to struggling Zarya Lugansk.
Goals from Evgeni Konoplienka and Volodymyr Gomeniuk had Dnipro 2-1 up heading into stoppage time, but Zarya snatched a point when Taras Lazarovych fired home. Ihor Skoba struck the visitors' opener after 52 minutes.
Grishko, Saucedo deliver
Chornomorets moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Tavriya Symferopol, the goals coming from Dmitri Grishko and Mauricio Saucedo.
The day's other game between Obolon Kiev and city rivals Arsenal ended goalless.
