Third-placed Gent lost ground in the Jupiler Pro League title race this evening as they went down 1-0 at home to St. Truidense. Cephas Chimedza scored the only goal of the game four minutes after the interval to move St. Truidense up to fifth and leave Gent five points behind second-placed Club Brugge and 12 adrift of leaders Anderlecht.
Gent's loss allowed Kortrijk to close to within two points in fourth spot with a 3-1 home triumph over Cercle Brugge. Christian Benteke set Kortrijk on their way eight minutes before the break and second-half goals from Davy De Beule and Mohamed Messoudi sealed matters before Bernt Evens hit a late consolation for Cercle.
Charleroi remained third-bottom on the back of a 4-0 defeat at Westerlo. Aleksandr Iakovenko, Steven De Petter and substitutes Jarno Molenberghs and Glenn Asten were all on target in the second half for the home team.
Second-bottom Roeselare improved their position slightly with a creditable 1-1 draw at sixth-placed Zulte-Waregem, Mahamadou Dissa securing the visitors a point by cancelling out Kevin Roelandts' opener.
