Former Qatar League pace-setters Al Sadd registered a late 4-3 win against Al Rayyan in Sunday's league programme.

Al Sadd reduced the gap to leaders and defending champions Al Gharafa to two points as they claimed their 12th win this season, while for Al Rayyan it was a seventh defeat. Al Rayyan took the lead after 10 minutes through their Brazilian Afonso Alves before his compatriot at Al Sadd Leandro da Silva levelled the scores for his side in the 33rd minute.

Al Sadd took the lead in the 66th minute through Majed Mohamad before Hamed Ismaeil equalised for Al Rayyan in the 79th, but Al Sadd took the lead again on 83 minutes through Mesad Al Hamad. Al Rayyan levelled the scores for the second time in the game when Al Sadd defender Mohamad Kasoula scored an own goal but Majed Mohamad scored the winner for Al Sadd in the second minute of stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Al Arabi hammered Al Ahli 4-0 to strengthen their grip on third place. Brazilian striker Carlos Kim gave the lead to Al Arabi in the 26th minute before his compatriot Daniel Carvalho doubled their advantage with a penalty nine minutes after the break.

Cabore scored the third goal six minutes after the hour mark while Carvalho scored his second goal of the night and the fourth for his side in the first minute of stoppage time. In the last match on Sunday, Umm Salal edged Al Khor thanks to a 17th-minute goal from Brazilian striker Davi Silva.
