Red Bull Salzburg reclaimed top spot in the table with a 2-1 victory at Ried. Following Rapid Vienna's surprise 4-2 defeat to Linz last night, Salzburg took full advantage as Marc Janko scored in the first and 43rd minutes to seize control of the game.
Atdhe Nuhiu got one back for the hosts in the 51st minute, but they could not prevent Salzburg from going one point clear at the top.
Ten-man Kapfenberg fall
Austria Vienna have moved to within two points of city rivals Rapid with a thrilling 4-3 win over struggling Kapfenberg, who finished the match with ten men. It was Kapfenberg who took the lead through Srdjan Pavlov in the 20th minute, but Roland Linz's first-half brace then turned the game in Austria's favour.
Marek Heinz levelled two minutes after the break before Florian Klein put Austria back in front. Pavlov thought he might have earned the visitors a point with his second in the 73rd minute, but there was another twist six minutes later when Milan Fukal was sent off and Austria took advantage with Milenko Acimovic grabbing the winner moments later.
Elsewhere, Mattersburg topped Magna Wr. Neustadt 1-0 thanks to Robert Waltner's 21st minute goal.
