Barcelona winger Jeffren has signed a two-year extension to his contract, tying him to the Catalan club until 2012.

The 22-year-old, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season, becomes the ninth Barça player to renew his deal this campaign.

Jeffren has progressed through the ranks at Camp Nou since joining their youth team from Tenerife in 2004, and is now set to remain with the world champions until the end of June 2012.

Jeffren was linked with a number of clubs in the summer, including Premier League outfits Wigan Athletic, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Racing Santander and Celtic.

The former Spain U-21 international has also seen his release clause increased to €10m.

Yaya Toure, Victor Valdes, Pedro, Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal, Andres Iniesta and Rafael Marquez have all signed new contracts this season, while coach Pep Guardiola has also agreed a new deal.
