Qatar League champions Al Gharafa climbed to the top of the standings with a 3-0 win over Al Rayyan on Tuesday.
The win was Al Gharafa's 12th in 17 league games this term and saw them move to the summit on 40 points, while Al Rayyan remained fourth following their sixth defeat of the campaign. Iraq striker Younis Mahmoud put Al Gharafa ahead after eight minutes and Mirgani Al Zain doubled the lead 12 minutes later. Mahmoud bagged his second goal of the night in first-half stoppage time to seal the victory.
Al Sadd relinquished top spot as they managed only a 1-1 draw with Qatar SC. Brazilian striker Leandro Da Silva looked to have secured all three points for Al Sadd with an 87th-minute opener but Fadel Omar bagged a valuable equaliser three minutes later. Finally, Al Khor and Al Arabi battled out a goalless draw.
