Bayern Munich's players go into Wednesday's DFB-Pokal quarter-final against second division Greuther Furth aiming to answer accusations of arrogance from their own coach. Experienced Dutchman Louis van Gaal was livid at his side's performance at the weekend, despite a 3-1 success at Wolfsburg.

Van Gaal spoke out against his players' attitude afterwards, although his views were dismissed by compatriot Arjen Robben. "I don't like the word arrogant," said the Netherlands winger.

"That implies we don't have respect for opponents. Maybe we suffered from a few lapses in concentration but these things can happen. We are only human."

Bayern are likely to make a comfortable passage into the last four in midweek, with Van Gaal set to give some of his fringe players - Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Miroslav Klose and Christian Lell - the chance to impress. France playmaker Franck Ribery could also start after having to settle for a place on the bench in recent weeks due to Van Gaal's desire to keep a settled side during their run of 11 successive wins in all competitions.

Osnabruck out for third scalp
Bayern are aiming for the double this season, as are Schalke. The latter travel to Osnabruck, who have already proven this season that they are no pushovers.

The third-flight side have accounted for Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund in the last two rounds and, despite being the lowest-ranked team still in the competition, will have home advantage as they bid to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

One Bundesliga side is guaranteed their place in the last four as Werder Bremen host Hoffenheim on Tuesday night. The other quarter-final sees high-flying second-division outfit Augsburg bidding to make it two Bavarian teams in the semi-finals by beating Cologne.
