Uruguay's Racing claimed a historic qualification to the Copa Libertadores' group stage after eliminating Colombian side Junior on Thursday.

The minnows from Montevideo, in their first appearance in the continental tournament, beat the Colombians 2-0 at home to complete a 4-2 win on aggregate. Liber Quinonez opened the scoring with a penalty in the 13th minute and Racing then focused all their efforts on defending their advantage.

Junior dominated possession but created very few clear chances and, with three minutes to go, Quinonez rounded off a fantastic counter-attack to seal the result. Racing enter Group 1, where they will open their campaign against Brazilian giants Corinthians on 24 February before facing Paraguay's Cerro Porteno and another Colombian side, Independiente Medellin.
