North Queensland Fury fought back from a goal down to see off Newcastle Jets 2-1 and keep alive their slim hopes of making the A-League play-offs.

The visitors took the lead with 19 minutes on the clock at Dairy Farmers Stadium when Fury failed to clear a corner and Matt Thompson swooped on the loose ball before turning and firing home.

North Queensland levelled six minutes before the interval when Dyran Daal chested the ball into Chris Grossman's path and he drove it into the back of the net.

The hosts' comeback was complete in the 80th minute when Chris Tadrosse latched onto Terry Cooke's pass and volleyed in the winner.

The result leaves North Queensland in eighth, five points behind the Jets - who occupy the final play-off spot - with just two games of the season to go.
