Mainz today signed Czech midfielder Jan Simak from Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart.
The 31-year-old has signed a contract until June 2011 at the Stadion am Bruchweg. "Jan Simak further expands our options in attack," Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel told the club's official website. "He is a player who can directly help us."
Mainz lie 10th in the Bundesliga, five points ahead of Stuttgart.
Simak joined Stuttgart in 2007 from Carl Zeiss Jena, following earlier spells with Hannover, Bayer Leverkusen and Sparta Prague. Mainz confirmed Simak will link up with the team tomorrow morning after undergoing a medical.
