Kombouare angry at PSG exit
Paris St Germain coach Antoine Kombouare was left fuming last night after seeing his side crash out of the Coupe de la Ligue to second division Guingamp.
Mamadou Sakho's own goal was all that separated the sides as Guingamp, the Coupe de France holders, lived up to their giantkilling reputation to book themselves a place in the quarter-finals. "Of course I'm angry," said Kombouare. "But we can't go back in time, it's done.
"It's a massive disappointment because we've been knocked out. There was a good chance for us to progress but there was too much wastefulness in our game, defensively as well as in attack.
"When you don't score you leave yourself exposed and then we scored against ourselves. It's not Mamadou Sakho who's responsible, it's the team. But you have to congratulate Guingamp who did what they needed to do."
Guingamp's reward for their endeavours is to play host to Ligue 1 strugglers Toulouse, who easily saw off Nancy 3-0 last night. The other Ligue 2 side left in the competition have a harder task as Sedan travel to either French champions Bordeaux or Le Mans.
Elsewhere, Marseille entertain Lille in what is arguably the tie of the round and Lorient host Lyon. The matches are due to be played on 26 and 27 January.
