Sebastian Soria scored twice and Talal El Karkouri was also on target, with Amara Diane pulling a goal back for Al Rayyan from the penalty spot.

Elsewhere, Jarallah Al Merri scored a hat-trick to steer Al Khraitiat to a 4-2 win against Al Wakra.

Alaa Abdulzahra was also on target for Al Khraitiat, while Khaled Muftah scored twice for Al Wakra.

Both sides ended the contest with ten men as Youness Hawassi was dismissed for Al Wakra and Soulaymane Keita was sent off in stoppage time for Al Khraitiat.

In the day's other contest, Al Ahli defeated Al Shamal 6-2 to climb to seventh.
