Wellington Phoenix have signed Ivorian striker Eugene Dadi until the end of the A-League season following his release from Perth Glory.

The 36-year-old asked to be released after struggling to hold down a regular first-team place at ME Bank Stadium and had been plying his trade in the National Youth League this season. Dadi was Perth's equal top-scorer last season with 10 goals in 16 appearances, but failed to find the net in six outings this campaign.

He has already arrived in Wellington and has trained with his new team-mates under coach Ricki Herbert ahead of Saturday's meeting with Brisbane Roar at Westpac Stadium. Wellington currently sit in seventh place in the A-League, just a point outside of the play-offs with seven games remaining.

"Eugene's a vastly talented and experienced striker who will offer Ricki something different up front," said Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata. "He's a big, strong and cunning striker and as a club we feel he'll be valuable for us in the closing stages of the season as we seek to secure a spot in the play-offs.

"Eugene still has a fierce desire to achieve at the highest level and he's shown commitment and value to his previous clubs. We're certain that's exactly what he'll bring to the Phoenix."
