Schalke have signed Brazilian striker Edu on a three-and-a-half-year contract, bringing him back to the Bundesliga after three years in South Korea.
The 28-year-old was already waiting to meet his new team-mates at their winter training camp in Chiclana, Spain, after putting pen to paper on his return to Germany.
The Brazilian formerly appeared for Schalke's local rivals Bochum, for whom he scored 16 goals in two seasons before moving to Mainz in 2006.
He left Mainz after only six months to join Suwon Samsung Bluewings in January 2007 and returns three years later for his third adventure in the Bundesliga.
