Al Ain dropped their first points in this year's UAE Etisalat Cup as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bani Yas in the opening match of round four of the competition tonight.
The result kept Al Ain at the top of Group B with ten points while Bani Yas remained in third with four points.
Bani Yas opened the scoring against the run of play as Theyab Awana fired a powerful shot past Al Ain goalkeeper Waleed Salem five minutes before the break.
Al Ain levelled the scores with 12 minutes remaining when Ali Al Wohaibi sent a cross that was headed home by Ahmed Khamis to earn his side a point.
In Group A action, UAE league champions Al Ahli shared a 1-1 draw with Al Sharjah.
Brazilian striker Bare gave Al Ahli the lead after 26 minutes before Al Sharjah's Marcelio Oliveira levelled the scores for his side with five minutes left on the clock.
Elsewhere, Moroccan striker Hassan Tair scored a goal after 25 minutes to steer Emirates to a 1-0 win against Al Nasr in Group C.
