Second-placed Red Bull Salzburg failed to take full advantage of their opportunity to narrow the gap at the top of the Bundesliga after being held 0-0 at Sturm Graz.

Salzburg would have joined Rapid Vienna at the top of the standings with victory, but are two points behind following the stalemate; their sixth draw of the season with fourth-placed Sturm.

Elsewhere, Austria Vienna are a point further back in third place after a 2-0 win at SV Ried, with Milenko Acimovic scoring both goals in the first half.

Stefan Hierlander scored an 80th-minute equaliser as bottom club Austria Karnten drew 1-1 with LASK Linz, who had gone ahead through Roman Wallner and ended the game with 10 men after Wolfgang Bubenik was dismissed for two bookable offences.
