Fluminense booked their place in the Copa Sudamericana final by beating Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno 2-1 in Rio de Janeiro to seal a 3-1 aggregate win.

Cerro Porteno equalised the tie early in the game and looked like taking it to penalties, but two Fluminense goals in added time turned their plans down. Luis Caceres put Cerro ahead in the sixth minute. Rafael saved Cesar Ramirez's shot, but Roberto Nanni latched onto the ball and set up Caceres to level the tie.

Fluminense made it 1-1 in the second minute of stoppage time, as Gum took advantage of a Cerro defensive mistake to beat Diego Barreto. Three minutes later, Alan profited from an empty net, with all 11 Cerro Porteno players pushing for a goal, to add a second.

Celebrations in stands turned into violence on the field as the players and coaching staffs of both sides began to fight. Fluminense, who are fighting against relegation in the Brazilian league, will face either Liga de Quito of Ecuador or Uruguayan side River Plate, who won the first leg 2-1 in Montevideo.

Gum said: "I've scored important goals before, but tonight's was blessed by God. It was a difficult match, they were tough. Our squad is going through a difficult time. We want to win the Copa Sudamericana and avoid relegation in our league."
