Wolfgang Overath was re-elected as president of Cologne at the Bundesliga club's annual general meeting last night.

The 66-year-old will hold his position for the next four years, after receiving 1,667 votes in favour and just 31 votes against. His vice-presidents, Friedrich Neukirch and Jurgen Glowacz, have also been confirmed in their positions.

"I have not reached the end of my road yet," said Overath. "We still want to move and improve certain things."

Cologne currently lie 13th in the Bundesliga and have a battle on their hands to avoid relegation this season. But Overath is confident that coach Zvonimir Soldo can master the situation with the help of everybody else at the club all pulling in the same direction.

"He has our backing and support," added Overath before appealing to the fans: "Let's all work on things together.

"What we need is continuity, patience and tenacity to continue along the route we are following, and for that, we need you, the heartbeat of FC Cologne."
