Argentina striker Carlos Tevez has revealed that he has considered retiring from football if La Albiceleste were to win next summer's FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa, saying he is "saturated" by football.
The 25-year-old Manchester City front-man would like to spend more time with his family and may return to Argentina with Boca Juniors or turn his back on the game altogether.
"It crosses my mind to hang up my boots if we win the World Cup, although I have a contract until 2014 (with City)," he told Argentinian newspaper Ole. "It's complicated, there's my family, the desire to return to Boca Juniors, but I think about it."
Tevez moved to City from neighbours Manchester United last summer after winning two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford.
"I'm a little tired of so much football. I want to enjoy my family a bit," he continued. "I'm very keen to stop and have a bit of peace. I've already won a lot. Living for football has saturated me a lot."
Nor is Tevez concerned by his limited opportunities under Argentina coach Diego Maradona.
"I had my chances and I couldn't perform at 100 per cent. When the team needs goals, you need to be able to score them," added the former Boca and Corinthians star. "I couldn't do it and if you don't do it, someone else will come in and get their chance. That's how the national team is and that's fine with me."
Tevez, speaking ahead of this weekend's friendly with Spain in Madrid, is determined to take this chance to prove his ability to Maradona and vowed to be at his very best next June in South Africa.
"Nobody likes to be a substitute. But it doesn't worry me to sit on the bench and I will support my team-mates." he continued. "I'm not going to make it easy for them (the other strikers). I'm not going to sit with my arms folded and watch the World Cup pass by."
"I want to play, I want to enjoy it, I want to be there and I'm going to try ten times harder than before. I'm determined to turn this situation around. At the World Cup they are going to see the best of Carlitos Tevez."
