Cudicini set for surgery
Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will today undergo wrist and pelvic surgery.
The 36-year-old Italian fractured both wrists and injured his pelvis after crashing his motorbike in London yesterday. Tottenham's head of medical services Wayne Diesel said on the official club website: "We have leading specialists looking after Carlo and once surgery is complete and his recovery is under way, we will have a clearer idea of how many weeks he will be out for."
Manager Harry Redknapp added: "We are all sorry to hear about what has happened to Carlo. We are just relieved that the injuries that he sustained in the accident weren't more serious. Everyone at the club sends their best wishes and we hope that he recovers soon."
Cudicini arrived at White Hart Lane last January on a free transfer following a decade at Chelsea. He made his name with the Blues, joining the club from Castel Di Sangro in 1999, initially on loan before signing a permanent deal.
He was first choice for four seasons at Stamford Bridge before the arrival of Petr Cech. However, the Italian has made just eight appearances this season and his current contract expires next summer.
