Al Ain dropped their first points of the season as they shared a 1-1 draw with Al Dhafra in round six.
Al Dhafra opened the scoring after 28 minutes when Ali Sultan was fouled inside the area and Nigerian striker Abas Mowiwa Lawal made no mistake from the spot. Al Ain levelled three minutes after the hour mark with a penalty of their own.
Brazilian striker Marcio Emerson was brought down in the area to give Argentinian striker Jose Sand the chance to score his tenth goal of the season, which he duly took.
Al Ain remained in second place with 14 points, two behind leaders Al Jazira, while Al Dhafra climbed to sixth place on the back of their seventh point this season.
