Sergio van Dijk scored twice as Brisbane Roar defeated Adelaide United 2-0 at Hindmarsh Stadium today.
Van Dijk opened the scoring in the 35th minute when he fired home from the penalty spot before adding a second six minutes into the second half from close range after latching onto David Dodd's pass.
The victory was the first for coach Ange Postecoglu and means Brisbane climb to seventh in the standings.
"The last couple of weeks we've worked really hard but haven't got a lot of reward and tonight we worked hard and deserved the win," said Postecoglu.
"We defended well when we needed to, we had to absorb some pressure, which you do away from home, and then I thought when we attacked we looked dangerous and were maybe unlucky not to get another goal."
