Brazilian giants Fluminense and Ecuador's Liga de Quito set up a Copa Sudamericana semi-final clash after battling victories in the last eight.
Fluminense claimed an impressive away win over Universidad de Chile, prevailing 1-0 to triumph 3-2 on aggregate.
The Brazilians dominated and both Maicon and Fred missed chances before the pair combined for the game's only goal, which arrived early in the second half when Fred headed home a cross from Maicon.
"We played a perfect game, we're very happy and I assume the fans should be very happy too," said Fluminense coach Cuca. "Today we became candidates to win the title."
In Ecuador, Liga Deportiva Universitaria came from 1-0 down to beat Argentinian champions Velez Sarsfield 2-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
Hernan Rodrigo Lopez put the visitors ahead just before half-time, but in the second half the Argentinians wilted in the high-altitude conditions and Liga clinched victory thanks to goals by Enrique Vera and Carlos Espinola.
In the other semi-final, Paraguay's Cerro Porteno will face Uruguay's River Plate.
