Benfica moved to within two points of Portuguese Liga leaders Sporting Braga on Monday with a 3-1 win at Pacos Ferreira.

The second-placed side were 3-0 up by half-time courtesy of goals from David Luiz after just two minutes, Carlos Martins (21) and Oscar Cardozo five minutes before the break. Araujo Maykon pulled one back 22 minutes from full time, but it did not signal the start of a comeback.

In the night's other game, a pair of penalties from Edgar gave Nacional a 2-0 win over Guimaraes. The win moves Nacional to eight points in sixth position heading a congested midtable.
