Cahill dedicates goal to tsunami victims
Australian international Cahill, who was born in Sydney to a Samoan mother, celebrated his 77th-minute strike by falling to his knees before miming rowing a boat. "Me and my family are from Samoa, I've got a lot of family there that got caught in the tsunami, and it's just sad," Cahill told ESPN.
"The celebration was a little bit of a tribute, there are a lot of people going through a hard time at the moment, not just in Samoa but in Asia. I just felt in my heart it was the right thing to do."
Cahill once played international junior football for Western Samoa. At least 148 people died in Tuesday's tsunami with the toll expected to rise.
