Sydney missed the chance to go top of the table after they lost 1-0 at Brisbane Roar.
Sergio van Dijk proved the hero at Suncorp Stadium. Charlie Miller's delivery was headed back across goal by Craig Moore and the striker was on hand to nod home at the far post with four minutes to go.
Lucas Pantelis and a late Mathew Leckie goal sealed a 2-0 victory for Adelaide United against North Queensland Roar at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Adelaide took the lead on the hour mark when Travis Dodd took advantage of a poor clearance from Roar goalkeeper Paul Henderson and the Adelaide captain fed Pantelis, who finished from the edge of the box.
Leckie, playing only his second game, then wrapped up the points with a fine effort as the 18-year-old ran at the Roar defence from inside his own half before slotting past Henderson.
Finally, Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast Mariners played out a goalless draw at Westpac Stadium. Nicky Travis had the ball in the back of the net for the Mariners after ten minutes, but it was ruled out for offside.
