Reigning champions Salzburg made it five wins from eight games in the new Bundesliga season as they came from behind to beat Sturm Graz 4-2 on Wednesday.
Sturm made a cracking start as Daniel Beichler put them ahead after 12 minutes, but Salzburg fought back through goals from Rafiu Afolabi (26) and Somen Tchoyi (32).
Beichler netted his second to make it 2-2 but Salzburg regained the lead before half-time as last season's top scorer Marc Janko hit the target in the 44th minute, with his second goal a minute into the second period proving to be the last of the scoring.
Austria Vienna are three points back in second after a 1-1 draw at home to SV Ried. Substitute Mamadou Diabang gave the capital side the lead in the 68th minute but Atdhe Nuhiu levelled for Ried three minutes later.
LASK Linz are a point further back in third thanks to a 3-1 victory over ten-man Austria Karnten as Roman Wallner bagged a hat-trick, while Andreas Dober's goal earned Rapid Vienna a 1-0 win at SV Kapfenberg.
