Jubilo Iwata goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken leg in the 3-0 victory over Kyoto Sanga, his club has announced.
Kawaguchi was stretchered off and taken to hospital following a collision with an opponent in the J.League encounter and is expected to be sidelined for six months.
The 34-year-old, who has appeared in three FIFA World Cups™ for Japan, could therefore also miss the start of next season if he is forced to undergo lengthy rehabilitation.
