Ten-man San Lorenzo progressed in the Copa Sudamericana on away goals after a 1-0 home win over fellow Argentinians Tigre.
An 87th-minute volley by Fabian Bordagaray after a Pablo Pintos cross from the right put San Lorenzo through - after Tigre had won 2-1 in the first leg. Two minutes before the winning goal, San Lorenzo midfielder Juan Carlos Menseguez was sent off for a rough challenge on Lucas Oviedo.
Tigre's Paraguayan midfielder Jose Montiel, one of two substitutes still waiting on the bench, was also shown a red card for dissent. San Lorenzo have made a slow start to their Apertura campaign, and Bordagaray told Fox Sports: "We know our squad is good enough. But we needed this win to believe in ourselves."
San Lorenzo, cup winners in 2002, will face Peru's 2003 champions Cienciano in the next round. In Venezuela, Peruvian side Alianza Atletico went through with a 2-1 win at ten-man Deportivo Anzoategui - after a goalless first leg.
Winger Marco Valverde put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute. Jesus Garcia equalised 20 minutes after the interval, but a Jonathan Rodriguez header gave Alianza the win a minute later. Giacomo Di Giorgi was sent off with five minutes to go. Alianza face Brazil's Fluminense in the next round.
