Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler scored a stunning goal to guide North Queensland Fury to a 1-0 win over Sydney FC at Sydney Football Stadium.
Fowler struck in the 54th minute when he chased onto Daniel McBreen's pass before sending a fine dipping effort from 25 yards that gave goalkeeper Clint Bolton no chance.
The victory was Fury's first in the A-League although they remain bottom with five points from six games.
Elsewhere, Brisbane Roar produced their best performance of the season as they comprehensively defeated Newcastle Jets 3-0 at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
Roar took the lead in the 24th minute when Reinaldo battled his way into the box before laying off a pass for Henrique to fire home.
Reinaldo then got on the scoresheet two minutes later after latching onto a chipped pass from Sergio Van Dyke.
Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller put the game beyond the Jets in the 70th minute when he superbly controlled a pass from Henrique before turning and unleashing an effort beyond the hapless Ben Kennedy.
