FC Groningen have signed Morten Nordstrand from FC Copenhagen on a loan deal. The Eredivisie club were in the market for a striker to replace Marcus Berg, who joined Hamburg earlier in the summer.

Denmark international Nordstrand, 26, has struggled for first team starts in recent weeks and is excited at the switch to Euroborg.

"At FC Copenhagen I wasn't a first-team regular all the time and I wanted to be that again," Nordstrand told Groningen's official website.

"At FC Groningen I have a bigger chance to play every game and I am very delighted with that. I know the club has been trailing me for years and that flatters me.

"In Holland they play more a technical game and I think I can adapt."
