Stoke have signed defender Danny Collins from Sunderland for £2.75million.

The 29-year-old, whose fee could rise to £3.5 million, follows Uruguayan Diego Arismendi, Robert Huth, Tuncay and Dean Whitehead into the Britannia Stadium.

Potters boss Tony Pulis told the club's official website: "Danny has been Sunderland's player of the year for the past two seasons, which speaks volumes for the impact he has had at that level."
