Paris Saint-Germain continued their good start to the new season with a convincing 3-0 success over Lille that earned them a share of top spot. Jérémy Clément gave PSG the advantage, with Peguy Luyindula and Christophe Jallet netting inside the last 13 minutes to make sure of a second success at the Parc des Princes.
Yet it was the visitors, seeking a first win of the season, who started brightly with home goalkeeper Gregory Coupet denying them a lead in the ninth minute when he blocked an effort from Youhan Cabaye, following good work on the wing by Eden Hazard. Two minutes later Hazard was involved again, crossing for Willy Aubameyang, but the striker's shot went inches wide.
The hosts threatened in the 25th minute when Clément released Mevlud Erding, but the Turkish striker's powerful shot was saved by goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle. However, a minute later PSG had the lead when Stéphane Sessegnon's corner fell kindly for Clement via Lille defender Adil Rami and the midfielder gave Butelle no chance with a shot from ten yards which arrowed into the top of his goal.
Two minutes from the break Lille came close to an equaliser, with Robert Vittek just shaving the angle of post and bar after Mamadou Sakho lost the ball to Aubameyang, who released Vittek.
The hosts started the second half strongly and Claude Makelele had a 50th-minute shot denied by Butelle, who also thwarted Luyindula a minute later after the striker had won the ball from Vittek. Soon after Makelele, Sammy Traoré and Erding set up Ludovic Giuly for an excellent shot, but Butelle again saved his team.
Lille responded when Cabaye's free-kick was blocked by Coupet, but it was their last chance of the game.
Luyindula made it 2-0 in the 77th minute, shooting low under Butelle after Jallet had steered Sylvain Armand's cross into his path. And Jallet was on the scoresheet himself in the closing stages, volleying in after good work by Sessegnon.
