Sunderland have confirmed defender Paul McShane has joined Hull City for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international has signed a four-year deal at the KC Stadium, having spent time on loan with Phil Brown's side last season.

McShane, who joined Sunderland in 2007, has yet to feature for Steve Bruce's side thus far this season.
